143 Meridian Pty Ltd (ACN 699 140 353, "143 Meridian", "we", "us") is a small company based in Sydney, Australia. We make the Truestar app. This policy explains what information we collect through this website and through Truestar, where it goes, and what you can do about it.
The short version: we collect as little as we can, there are no ads, we don't track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell your information.
This website
143meridian.com.au is a static website. We don't use advertising, third-party analytics or tracking cookies. If you switch between the light and dark look, your browser remembers that choice on your own device.
If you send us an enquiry through the form, we receive your name, organisation, email address and message, and use them only to reply to you.
If you join our mailing list, we store your email address and the time you joined. We use it only to send occasional news about Truestar and 143 Meridian. Email us at any time and we'll take you off the list and delete your address.
Like most web servers, ours keeps short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and the page requested) for security and reliability.
Truestar
Truestar is a personal goal and time tracker for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch. What you put into it is yours: your life areas, goals and why they matter, tasks, time blocks and their ratings, notes, journal entries, voice answers and photos. Truestar has no ads and no third-party analytics, it doesn't track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell personal information.
Using Truestar on one device
You can use Truestar without signing in. Everything you create then stays on your device, in Apple's protected app storage, which is locked by your device passcode. We receive none of it. Truestar's widgets, its Apple Watch app and its share sheet read and write that same on-device data. Your Apple Watch gets its data from your iPhone.
Signing in and sync
To use Truestar on more than one device, you sign in with Apple. We receive an account identifier from Apple and the email address Apple shares with us, which can be a private relay address if you choose Hide My Email. We never ask Apple for your name. A display name is only what you type into the app. We also store your device's time zone, so your days start and end at your own midnight.
While you're signed in, your Truestar content is stored with Supabase, our database provider, so every device you sign in on sees the same thing. That includes your life areas, goals, milestones, tasks and comments, time blocks with their ratings, notes and places (see Location below), focus sessions, journal and review entries, week names, the text of your WHY Vault and Draw answers, and the settings that follow you between devices. Voice recordings stay on the device where you made them; only their text syncs.
Photos you attach to tasks and comments, and proof photos on time blocks, are never sent to us. They are kept in your own iCloud, in Truestar's private space in your Apple Account, so they show on your other devices signed in to the same Apple Account. Only the photo's file name travels with the task, comment or time block. If iCloud is off, the photo stays on the device where you added it.
Each account can only read its own data. You can stop syncing at any time with Switch to Local only, which keeps your cloud copy so you can sign back in later. To erase it, delete your account (see Keeping and deleting your data below).
Location
Truestar asks for your location the first time you start a focus session, and only ever while you're using the app. If you allow it, Truestar notes where you are when you start a focus session or log a time block as it happens. It saves that place with the time block, learns the places you come back to, and looks up a place name using Apple Maps (Apple receives the coordinates for that lookup). It uses this to suggest what you usually do in a place and to show where a block happened. If you're signed in, these places sync with the rest of your data. You can turn location off at any time in iOS Settings; places already saved stay on those blocks until you delete them.
Camera, photos, microphone and speech
Truestar uses the camera only when you take a proof photo for a time block. Proof photos, including ones you pick from your library, are kept with your other Truestar photos in your own iCloud (see above). Proof photos you take with the camera are also saved to your photo library, so they stay yours even if you delete the time block. Truestar opens your photo library when you add a photo to a time block, a WHY Vault entry, a task or a comment.
Truestar uses the microphone only while you record a voice answer for The Draw or your WHY Vault. Your answers are turned into text by Apple's speech recognition. Some of this happens on your device; depending on your device and language, Apple may process the audio on its servers under Apple's privacy policy. The recordings themselves stay on your device.
Notifications
Reminders, check-ins and the free trial reminder are scheduled on your device. Truestar doesn't use a push notification server. You can change them in the app's notification settings or turn them off in iOS Settings.
Intelligence features
Some features use a language model, such as a plan for a goal, a plan for your day, a suggested next task or a new course after you finish a goal. Truestar tries Apple's on-device model first, which keeps the request on your device. When that model is unavailable or the request is too large for it, and only if you're signed in, Truestar sends the request to Anthropic's Claude through our own relay. The app tells you when a plan was made with Claude.
These requests include only the text needed to answer: things like a goal's title, why it matters, its timeframe and target date, its life area, your answers about where you are now and what's in the way, milestones and sub-goals with their progress, task titles with their due dates, priority and status, the free times in your day, and how long it's been since you worked on a goal. They don't include your journal entries, voice recordings, photos or location.
Our relay runs on Cloudflare. It checks that you're signed in, counts your requests for the day so it can apply the daily allowance, and passes the request on. It doesn't store or log what the request says. The only thing it keeps is the count, against your account identifier and the date. Anthropic processes requests under its commercial terms, under which it does not train its models on them. If you'd rather nothing is sent to Claude, use Truestar without signing in or skip these features.
Connecting your AI
With Premium, you can connect Truestar to an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT using our connector. You sign in with your Truestar account and approve the connection first. After that, the assistant can read your Truestar data and, when you ask it to, add or change goals, tasks and time blocks. The connector runs on Cloudflare and keeps the sign-in tokens that hold the connection open. They expire if the connection isn't used for 30 days and are deleted when you disconnect. It doesn't keep its own copy of your data. What the assistant does with what it reads is covered by that assistant's own privacy policy. You can disconnect at any time from the assistant's settings.
Subscriptions
Purchases and free trials are handled by Apple. We never see your payment details or your Apple Account. If you're signed in when you subscribe, Truestar attaches your Truestar account identifier to the purchase so Premium can follow your account to every device. Apple then sends our server signed notices when your subscription starts, renews, ends or is refunded. From these we store whether Premium is on, the plan, the subscription's transaction number from Apple, its expiry date and when its status last changed.
During a free trial, Truestar schedules a reminder on your device three days before you'd be billed, if you allow notifications.
Diagnostics
iOS may give Truestar reports when the app crashes or slows down. They stay on your device unless you choose to send them to us from Settings, then Your data, then Send diagnostics. If you share analytics with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple also passes us anonymous crash reports.
Anonymous usage results
To learn whether Truestar helps, each device sends us one short, anonymous summary after its first week. It says whether setup was finished, on which day of that week you first logged a time block, roughly how many blocks and goals you added (in ranges such as "2 to 5"), whether you saw the Premium offer and are on a trial or subscribed, whether you're signed in, whether it's an iPhone or iPad, and the app version. That's all. It never includes your goals, notes, journal, times, places, account, email or any identifier for you or your device, so it can't be linked to you, and it's sent once. It goes to our relay on Cloudflare, which stores only those answers in our database and keeps nothing about the request. It's on by default. Turn it off in Settings, then Your data, then Share anonymous usage results; anything not yet sent is discarded.
Getting a copy of your data
In the app, Settings, then Your data, then Back up data shares a copy of your Truestar database through AirDrop or Files. You can also email us from the address on your account and we'll send you a copy.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your synced data for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account in the app: open Settings, tap your account at the top, then Delete account. This permanently erases your account, everything stored in our database and your Premium record. It also removes the photos Truestar keeps in your iCloud. If iCloud can't be reached at that moment, the app tells you, and you can remove them yourself in Settings, your name, iCloud, Manage storage, Truestar. If you signed in with Apple, Apple asks you to confirm, and Truestar's access to your Apple Account is revoked. The copy on your own device stays there, as Local only, until you delete the app. Deleted data can remain in our database provider's backups for a short time before they're overwritten.
Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription. Apple handles that; see support for how. You can also ask us by email to delete your data and we'll do it for you.
Children
Truestar is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Who else handles your information
Only the services that make Truestar work: Apple (sign in, purchases, speech recognition, place names, crash reports and iCloud, which holds your Truestar photos in your own account), Supabase (our database), Cloudflare (our relay and connector) and, for intelligence features, Anthropic. Some of them process information outside Australia, including in the United States. Each is bound by its own privacy commitments. We don't share your information with advertisers, data brokers or anyone else, unless the law requires us to.
Your rights
We handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you by writing to us. If you have a complaint, write to us first and we'll reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
Terms
Truestar is provided under Apple's standard licensed application end user licence agreement.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects information you've already given us, we'll tell you in the app before it applies.
